Vascular Technologist & Technical Director

Fulltime-Day, 8:00am-4:30pm, occ travel.Position Objective:
The Vascular Technologist and Technical Director is responsible for the overall daily operations of the ambulatory vascular lab(s), ensuring the delivery of high-quality diagnostic imaging and maintaining compliance with all IAC Vascular Testing accreditation standards. This is a "player-coach" role that combines hands-on clinical scanning with administrative responsibilities. In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison between the sonography staff and the Medical Director, perform high-quality vascular diagnostic procedures, work closely with our physicians to aid in patient diagnosis, and contribute to our patient-centered care model.

Technical Director & Administrative Duties: (Approx. 10-20% of time)
1. Lead all activities related to achieving and maintaining ambulatory IAC Vascular Testing accreditation, including preparing applications, documentation, and leading site visits.
2. Develop, implement, and oversee the lab’s comprehensive Quality Improvement (QI) program in collaboration with the Medical Director.
3. Organize and lead regular QI meetings, conduct technical quality reviews of studies, and perform clinical correlation studies (e.g., comparing ultrasound results with CTA/MRA or surgical findings) to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
4. Provide direct training and ongoing competency assessment for all ambulatory vascular sonography staff.
5. Develop and maintain all lab policies, procedures, and scanning protocols (e.g., Carotid, Venous, Arterial) to ensure they meet current standards of care and IAC requirements.
6. Coordinate daily lab operations, including staff scheduling, patient workflow optimization, and troubleshooting technical issues.
7. Review referral patterns for Vascular studies, and advise on trends and possible outreach targets for program/volume growth.
Clinical Sonographer Duties (Approx. 80-90% of time)
8. Perform comprehensive vascular ultrasound examinations, including Carotid Duplex, Peripheral Arterial (physiologic and duplex), Venous Duplex (DVT and insufficiency), and Visceral Vascular studies according to established protocols.
9. Provide expert-level analysis of complex vascular cases and assist colleagues with challenging studies.
10. Analyze diagnostic images for quality and provide accurate preliminary findings, including hemodynamic measurements and velocities, to the reading physician in a timely manner.
11. Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring it is clean, calibrated, and functioning correctly.
12. Maintain precise and confidential patient records by documenting procedures and results in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
Educational/Experience Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Four years of experience performing a full range of vascular ultrasound studies.
- In-depth knowledge of peripheral vascular anatomy, physiology, and hemodynamics.
- Direct, hands-on experience with the IAC Vascular Testing accreditation process is essential.
Required License/Certifications
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) with the ARDMS or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) with CCI.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS-CPR issued by the American Heart Association.
