Additional Info: The Community Outreach Coordinator supports cancer prevention and early detection efforts throughout Prince George’s County, with a focus on reaching communities at higher risk for cancer disparities. This self-directed role leads community outreach, health education, and patient engagement activities at health fairs, partner events, and county-wide initiatives. The Coordinator screens individuals for program eligibility, enrolls participants using electronic medical records and databases, schedules new and recall screening appointments per MDH policy, and connects residents to Smoking Cessation Programs and other community resources. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator who is comfortable working with diverse racial and socioeconomic groups and is skilled at building trust in underserved communities. They must be creative in addressing social determinants of health and proactive in developing culturally tailored outreach strategies. This position works closely with the Program Manager, clinical case management team, community partners, and local health departments.

Position Objective:

Coordinates resources and implements health education programs offered at the AAMC campus, and in various community settings for diverse populations.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Represents the AAMC Department of Community Health and Wellness as a participant in internal and external community health event planning meetings.
  2. Represents the AAMC Department of Community Health and Wellness at community events on campus, and at off-site community locations.
  3. Collects and compiles program data to prepare statistical logs and reports. In collaboration with the Manager, collects Community Benefit Report data, including financial data and qualitative data.
  4. Supports other AAMC outreach programs including the Community Education and Outreach Council, collects information about events (schedule, and evaluation) and maintains calendar of community events.
  5. Responds to incoming calls efficiently and professionally, makes appointments for Community Health and Energize, refers callers appropriately, and responds to callers needs in a timely fashion. Supports the Energize program as needed. Performs related work as need or assigned.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3 years work experience. 
  • Considerable knowledge of community organization principles, resources, and community needs. Ability to plan, implement, and manage health education programs for diverse populations.  Knowledge of current principles, practices, and processes employed in the health education component of the Community Health and Wellness Department.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required. Must have the ability to connect with diverse populations and effectively present health education/disease prevention concepts.  Ability to independently conduct health screening activities that measure blood pressure, body-fat percentage, and cholesterol. .

$21.38$35.96 USD
