Department: Marketing and Communications
Reports to: Senior Director, Marketing and Communications and works closely with Human Resources Leadership

Location: Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center

Full-time, hybrid

 

 

The Communications Specialist is a member of the Luminis Health Marketing and Communications team, reporting to the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications. This position is primarily dedicated to supporting Human Resources (HR) and will develop and execute strategic internal communications that foster employee engagement, enhance workforce culture, and support organizational priorities related to recruitment, retention, workforce development, employee well-being, and HR related initiatives.

 

This position requires a proactive, strategic communicator who can anticipate needs, identify opportunities and challenges, and partner closely with HR leaders and senior executives across the organization. The communications specialist will build trusted relationships, translate HQ goals into clear and compelling messages, and deliver impactful multi-channel communications that strengthen alignment with Luminis Health’s vision, values, and Rise culture (Respect, Inclusion, Service, and Excellence).

 

The ideal candidate will be a thoughtful storyteller, and experienced change communicator, and a solutions-oriented partner who can manage multiple complex initiative independently from planning to execution.

1.     Serve as the primary communications lead for Human Resources, supporting strategic internal communications related to patient experience, employee experience, workplace culture, DEI, benefits, performance management, career development, organizational change, and more.

2.     Proactively partner with HR and senior leaders to develop and implement integrated communication plans that support key workforce initiatives and align with the organization’s mission and strategic goals.

3.     Translate HR strategies into compelling communications that resonate with diverse audiences across the system, ensuring clarity, alignment, and engagement.

4.     Develop and deliver communications across a variety of channels and formats, including:

·        Key messages and talking points

·        Employee newsletters and HR announcements

·        Intranet content and web copy

·        Change management communications

·        Executive letters, memos, and presentations

·        Video scripts, email campaigns, and social media content

·        Crisis and emergency communications related to workforce issues

5.     Ensure consistency of tone, voice, and brand messaging, upholding editorial standards and reinforcing Luminis Health’s culture and values.

6.     Measure communication effectiveness through data, feedback, and analytics; apply insights to continuously improve engagement and clarity.

7.     Provide strategic communications support during periods of change, such as policy updates, system transformations, restructures, and leadership transitions.

8.     Participate in the on-call rotation for 24/7 media and social media response, as needed.

9.     Collaborate with the broader marketing and communications team, including design, web, media relations, and digital content teams, to ensure cohesive and consistent messaging across platforms.

10.  Engage with internal committees and cross-functional teams to stay informed and serve as a communications advisor on workforce-related projects.

11.  Manage multiple priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high standard of quality and responsiveness.

12.  Perform other duties as assigned, including cross-coverage for other communications functions as needed.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, English, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in communications, corporate internal communications, executive communications preferred.
  • Proven experience developing and executing communication strategies that align with organizational objectives.

Preferred:

  • Experience supporting Human Resources communications or working in HR-related environments
  • Experience in healthcare, higher education, or other mission-driven organizations
  • Familiarity with change management principles and employee engagement best practices

Pay Range
$90,000$110,000 USD
