Position Objective:

Provides leadership to medical assistants by: scheduling work; providing training to staff, including orientation of new staff, and cross training of staff; assisting leadership with feedback for staff performance evaluations; providing counseling to staff and recommending appropriate disciplinary action to leadership; and reviewing the work of staff.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Provides leadership to medical assistants by: scheduling work; providing training to staff, including orientation of new staff, and cross training of staff; assisting leadership with feedback for staff performance evaluations; providing counseling to staff and recommending appropriate disciplinary action to leadership; and reviewing the work of staff.
  2. Registers and schedules patients, prints documents to include the providers daily schedule; accesses and makes changes to the patients quickview screen; utilizes the patient privacy link, workflow dashboard, and card scanner.
  3. Ensures that sufficient inventories of medical and office supplies are stocked and maintained in the office and exam rooms. Processes the ordering of clinical supplies in accordance with practice standards.
  4. Completes lab requests, referral and health forms and maintains logs as mandated by state and federal regulatory guidelines, policies and procedures of AAHCE. Administers injections, EKGs, spirometry, perform phlebotomy, and renders therapeutic treatments (practice specific) as instructed by the physician.
  5. Determines patient eligibility using programs such as Medicaid EVS; identifies when a patient is in need of a referral and/or preauthorization; searches for or add insurances in the practice management system; edits claims.
  6. Answers and screens office calls, greets patients in a professional and timely manner; projects proper telephone etiquette; understands when it is acceptable to release patients protected health information.
  7. Completes accurate and timely data input within the bounds of record access and in compliance with the processes and procedures governing the electronic health record. Accesses patient record information only as it directly pertains to the performance of work duties.
  8. Obtains patient vital signs and properly document them in the patients medical record. Interviews, triages and prepares patients to facilitate smooth flow, assists providers in medical examinations, and provides other general assistance to the provider and staff as necessary.
  9. Monitors OSHA compliance.
  10. Communicates with practice manager regarding supply costs and usage.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

  • Two years of experience in a medical office setting.

Required License/Certifications: 

  • CMA, RMA or AAMA (through an approved/accredited organization). Must maintain Certification or credentials while employed

Pay Range
$18.50$24.50 USD
