Inpatient Applications Manager
Position Objective and Essential Job Duties
The Inpatient Applications Manager is responsible for the strategic oversight, operational delivery, and ongoing support of inpatient clinical information systems within the hospital setting. This role leads a team of analysts and specialists in supporting Epic and other core systems across nursing, ED, perioperative, and ancillary services. The manager ensures alignment with clinical goals, regulatory standards, and IT best practices while fostering strong partnerships with operational leaders.
Position Objective
1. Partner with the Clinical Director to define and execute the vision and strategy for inpatient clinical applications.
2. Lead, coach, and develop the inpatient applications team to support Epic modules such as ClinDoc, Orders, OpTime, Stork, ASAP, and ancillary systems.
3. Oversee the successful delivery of application services, including system maintenance, upgrades, incident management, and end-user support.
4. Collaborate closely with nursing, physicians, ancillary departments, and hospital operations to align IT solutions with clinical workflows and quality goals.
5. Ensure integration and interoperability between inpatient systems and other care venues.
6. Establish and monitor team goals, KPIs, and service-level expectations aligned with hospital priorities.
7. Serve as project lead or sponsor for system implementations, enhancements, and regulatory compliance initiatives.
8. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of healthcare IT trends, Epic roadmap, and relevant regulatory requirements.
9. Promote staff development through coaching, performance reviews, and access to training and certification opportunities.
10. Respond to escalated user concerns and make recommendations to the Clinical Director regarding application performance and improvement opportunities.
Education and Experience Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree required.
· 1–3 years of experience in a supervisory, lead, or managerial role within an inpatient EHR team.
· 3–5 years of experience in a hospital clinical setting with a strong understanding of clinical workflows and systems integration.
· Prior experience with Epic inpatient modules strongly preferred (e.g., ClinDoc, ASAP, OpTime, Stork).
· Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage cross-functional projects.
· Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
