Breast Surgeon
Position Objective:
The Breast Surgeon will provide medical services for the designated clinical area [The Breast Center], providing surgical, consultative, and follow-up care for patients with benign and malignant breast disease.
Essential Job Duties:

- Provides clinical and surgical skills to provide services to patients with breast cancer and benign breast disease.
- Develop and reinforce positive working relationships with the surgical staff of AAMC and employees of The Breast Center.
- Participate in and expand the breast cancer research projects related to breast imaging, surgery, genome tissue banking research, quality of life studies, and breast cancer prevention (i.e.: PET Mammography, breast MRI study, ECOG, DOD, KOMEN, the SEER trial, sentinel node study, etc.).
- Participate with and assist with the development of and expansion of the Risk Assessment Program (RAPP).
- Participate in community outreach in collaboration with the Womens and Childrens Program, the Oncology Program, Wellness and Community Outreach, and the Surgical Initiative.
- Develop positive working relationships with departments who provide services to the Breast Center, including, but not limited to, the Pathology Department, Anne Arundel Diagnostics (AAD), Laboratory, Marketing and Public Relations, Central Sterile Supply, the Clinical Research Staff, the Tumor Registry, Medical Office, and the Surgical Initiative.
- Participate in efforts to maintain excellent (A grade) in patient satisfaction related to services at The Breast Center.
- Collaborate with Radiology and Radiation Oncology Department to integrate digital mammography and APBI/Breast MammoSite, and any new imaging techniques related to breast diagnostics and breast treatments at The Breast Center.
- Collaborate with the Plastic Surgery Service on breast reconstruction program.
- Participate in quality control programs related to The Breast Center activities. This will require coordination with Anne Arundel Medical Centers Cancer Committee. The quality control program will include screening and diagnostic testing by the Department of Radiology, and the Radiation Oncology Department of the DeCesaris Cancer Institute.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- Active Medical Staff at AAMC in good standing. Trained in a breast Fellowship program. Demonstrates significant skill and success in managing breast disease. Demonstrates significant interest in clinical research in breast cancer prevention, diagnostics, surgery, and treatment.
RequiredLicense/Certifications:
- Licensed physician in the State of Maryland, certified by a medical specialty Board.
