Surgical Supply Coordinator
Position Objective:
To coordinate daily activities related to procurement of all medical and some non-medical supplies and services, both inventory and special orders, for designated AAMC areas.

- Coordinates the daily activities of the Surgical Supply Chain. Assures accurate receipt, issue, storage and purchase of Stock and non-Stock supplies for the surgical areas.
- Assists in the formation and participates in departmental continuous improvement projects and participates on other department teams and committees as required.
- Assists Manager in the annual evaluation process of technicians assigned to the Surgical Supply Chain.
- Advises appropriate clinical director/designee of possible stock outages. Coordinates with clinical director/designee and Manager of Value Analysis for substitution.
- Identifies pricing discrepancies and notifies the Manager of Strategic Sourcing.
- Performs periodic analysis of usage patterns and makes recommendations to appropriate personnel regarding standardization and usage.
- Makes recommendations and implements suggestions concerning materials and process changes.
- Ensures appropriate staffs have necessary pricing to enable processing of patient charges.
- Reorders supplies for and maintains assigned inventories. Processes requisitions for non-stock supplies.
- Responsible for maintaining assigned inventory locations and consignment supplies.
Educational/Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma required.
- Associate or Bachelor degree in Business Administration preferred.
- Experience in medical purchasing may be substituted in lieu of a degree. Knowledge of Hospital Supply Chain Clinical Value Analysis process. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
Physical Demands -
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
