Senior Giving Officer
Senior Giving Officer Reports To: Director of Giving Position Objective:
The Senior Giving Officer will maintain a robust (100-person) donor and prospect portfolio to secure major gifts of $25,000 and up and raise at least $2 million annually. This position will develop and implement strategies for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gift donors and potential donors. In collaboration with other gift officers and Foundation team members, promotes support for the Annual Fund and Planned Giving programs, as well as for capital or special project support, and specialized fundraising campaigns. Duties may be deleted, and additional duties may be assigned at the supervisor's discretion.
Professional/Technical Competencies
1. Fundraising Knowledge
Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising terms and strategies as it pertains to donors, staff, healthcare philanthropy and volunteers with particular expertise in the area of major gift strategies and techniques.
2. Marketing
Knowledge of marketing principles and strategies as they relate to fundraising and major gift procurement.
3. Ethical Practices
Demonstrated ability to adhere to regulations and policies pertaining to donors while maintaining a high level of moral and ethical standards with regard to donor rights, HIPAA, etc.
Essential Functions
1. Establishes and monitors a Major Gifts portfolio for the Foundation.
2. Collaborates with the Foundation, Board members, staff and volunteers as appropriate to set annual goals for Major and Planned Gifts.
3. Builds and maintains strong relationships with current and former medical staff to solicit their philanthropic involvement
4. Manages a portfolio of clinicians to assist in securing major gifts through the Grateful Patient Program.
5. Researches and identifies prospects for Planned Gift Program.
6. Works closely with other Foundation staff members to establish comprehensive "moves management" plan and develops short and long-term business plans.
7. Meets regularly with key LHAAMC personnel, physicians and other leaders to encourage identification of major donor prospects, as well as to understand the needs of the organization.
8. Assists Foundation staff with cultivation and recognition events.
9. Participates in professional networks to maintain current knowledge of laws and techniques.
10. Functions as a key member of the development team and provides additional support as requested to ensure the success of the Foundation in its mission and goals.
11. Usage of Salesforce and the Microsoft Suite of products.
Knowledge/Experience
· Required Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree in related field
· Required Minimum Experience: 5 to 7 years progressive fundraising experience.
