Job Title: Senior Director of Marketing and Communications

Position Summary:

The Senior Director of Marketing and Communications is a key enterprise leader responsible for driving the overall brand, marketing, and communications strategy for Luminis Health. Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer, this role oversees a broad portfolio including internal and external communications, media relations, marketing strategy, digital engagement, and brand development.

This leader supervises the entire Marketing and Communications team, including direct oversight of the communications staff and strategic collaboration with the Directors of Marketing and Digital Experience. The role ensures a unified and compelling voice across all audiences—patients, employees, community partners, media, and industry stakeholders—advancing Luminis Health’s reputation, engagement, and business goals.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and integrate enterprise-wide communications and marketing strategy across all internal and external channels.
  • Direct the creation and execution of high-impact campaigns that drive patient engagement, brand awareness, and system growth.
  • Serve as the lead communications advisor to the CEO and executive team. Develop executive messaging for internal updates, public speaking, crisis response, and thought leadership.
  • Manage internal communications to enhance cultural cohesion, employee engagement, and organizational alignment.
  • Oversee media relations, including proactive story development, press outreach, and reputation management in partnership with local and national outlets.
  • Lead crisis communication strategy and serve as spokesperson or coordinator during critical incidents.
  • Guide the strategic use of digital and social media platforms to amplify brand presence, thought leadership, and community engagement.
  • Supervise and coach a high-performing team of marketing and communications professionals, fostering a culture of creativity, accountability, and excellence.
  • Develop integrated brand storytelling initiatives to share the impact of Luminis Health on patient lives and communities.
  • Set KPIs and performance metrics to track marketing and communications effectiveness and report results to senior leadership.
  • Collaborate with system leaders, clinical teams, HR, legal, and operations to ensure communications align with strategic priorities and uphold compliance standards.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of progressive leadership in integrated marketing and communications, preferably in healthcare or a similarly complex, highly regulated industry.
  • Proven experience leading enterprise-wide communication strategies and managing full-spectrum marketing teams.
  • Demonstrated success with digital engagement, content strategy, media relations, and brand campaigns.

  • Strategic and visionary thinker with the ability to translate complex ideas into clear, compelling communications.
  • Deep expertise in multi-channel marketing, internal/external communications, and crisis communications.
  • Strong leadership, team development, and organizational change management skills.
  • Outstanding written, verbal, and presentation skills with an executive presence.
  • Advanced knowledge of healthcare industry communications, digital trends, and brand strategy.
  • Data-driven mindset with strong analytical and decision-making capabilities.

Working Conditions:

  • Leadership role with a hybrid of strategic planning and hands-on execution.
  • Requires periodic travel, including site visits and external events.
  • May involve after-hours response during urgent or crisis scenarios.
