Position Objective:

The 340B Coordinator plays a vital role in managing and overseeing the 340B Drug Pricing Program within Luminis Health, ensuring compliance with all 340B regulations, and optimizing the program’s benefits for eligible patients and the health system. The 340B Coordinator will work closely with internal interdisciplinary teams and external vendors to maintain an auditable and fully compliant program. This includes overseeing covered outpatient drug purchasing, inventory processes, dispensing pattern reconciliation, and analysis of data trends.

Key responsibilities include monitoring 340B program performance, conducting audits, managing vendor relationships, ensuring proper software and tools functionality, and providing ongoing education and training for relevant staff. The 340B Coordinator will also manage split billing software maintenance, perform monthly reporting on savings opportunities, maintain appropriate policies, and audit utilization records and 340B purchasing accounts. The role will lead the Quality Assurance and audits for participating areas, ensuring standard operating procedures are followed and compliance is maintained.

Additionally, the 340B Coordinator will serve as the liaison for 340B software vendors and wholesale distributors, providing timely resolutions and communication of any issues. The 340B Coordinator will also oversee the 340B Workgroup, report to the 340B Executive Steering Committee, and support program compliance and expansion initiatives across the organization.

The 340B Coordinator must be proactive, detail-oriented, and possess strong communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Skills should include, but are not limited to:

  • In-depth knowledge of the 340B Drug Pricing Program, including regulatory requirements, compliance issues, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with 340B software tools.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of healthcare compliance regulations, including HIPAA and other privacy laws.

Essential Job Duties:

  1. Ensure that the 340B program is compliant with federal and state regulations and guidelines. Review and analyze data to identify trends, irregularities, or potential areas of non-compliance and take corrective actions, as necessary.
  2. Identify opportunities to maximize the benefits of the 340B program for both the health system and patients. Collaborate with pharmacy, billing, finance, and other departments to ensure accurate and efficient drug purchasing, inventory, and dispensing processes within the 340B program.
  3. Maintain accurate and detailed records of 340B transactions, including purchases, inventory, and patient eligibility. Generate regular reports regarding 340B program activity, savings, and compliance status for leadership, and make recommendations for improvement based on findings.
  4. Work with external vendors, such as 340B third-party administrators, to ensure seamless program operation. Assist with the management of contracts and relationships with pharmaceutical wholesalers and other stakeholders to ensure pricing and program compliance.
  5. Provide ongoing education and training for staff across Luminis Health (pharmacy, billing, finance, and clinical departments) regarding the 340B program and related compliance requirements. Develop and deliver educational materials or presentations on the 340B program for internal stakeholders.
  6. Conduct internal audits and investigations to ensure proper use of 340B savings and compliance with the program’s regulations. Manage external audits and respond to inquiries from federal entities such as HRSA (Health Resources and Services Administration) as needed.
  7. Serve as the primary point of contact for all 340B-related inquiries within the health system. Foster effective communication between the pharmacy department and other departments, including legal, compliance, finance, and clinical teams, to ensure the proper implementation of the 340B program.
  8. Collaborate with the leadership team to ensure that 340B savings are being effectively utilized to support patient care and organizational goals.
  9. Identify opportunities for expanding the 340B program to additional eligible locations, including satellite clinics or new sites of care. Work with leadership and operational teams to develop processes that ensure continual improvement in program efficiency and effectiveness.
  10. Oversee the integration of 340B program data with the health system’s Electronic Health Records (EHR), pharmacy management software, and billing systems to ensure streamlined operations. Manage and optimize the use of 340B management software and tools to track purchases, drug inventory, and patient eligibility.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Required Minimum Education. The minimum level of education for this position includes: A Doctor of Pharmacy Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy with experience.

Required Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in pharmacy, healthcare administration, or a related field, with a strong understanding of the 340B Drug Pricing Program.
  • Experience working with 340B third-party administrators, pharmacy management systems, and data analytics is preferred.
  • Experience with compliance auditing, financial reporting, and vendor management in a healthcare setting is a plus.

Required License/Certifications: 

Current Maryland State license as a pharmacist.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:

Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
