Position Objective:
Under supervision of the Clinical Director for Perianesthesia, monitors and facilitates patient throughput through each surgical phase of care and performs a variety of complex administrative functions in partnership with other staff members and providers. In addition, proactively identifies and provides forcustomer’s needs.
Essential Job Duties:
- Answers the phones courteously and professionally per department guidelines, responds to inquiries, and refers all calls as appropriate
- Assists with the training and orientation of new staff providing performance training and feedback.
- Maintains a thorough understanding of downtime and/or disaster procedure; effectively demonstrates the ability to perform job functions during such conditions.
- Monitors electronic bed tracker; communicating with nurses, physicians and families both verbally and electronically to allow optimal flow of patients.
- Orders medical supplies and ensures appropriate items are on unit.
- Coordinates and leads unit based projects within scope.
- Provides IT/IS Support: Troubleshooting Rover/Beaker issues, troubleshooting wireless barcode EPIC scanners, troubleshooting WOW and computer issues, enters JIRA Help Desk tickets as needed.
- Collaboratively works with all internal and external customers; proactively identifies and provides for the customers’ needs using appropriate quality service standard as identified in RISE Values. Exercises cooperation, flexibility, understanding and patience in dealing respectfully with customers.
- Notifies support services when there are issues related to environmental services or facilities maintenance. Follows up on identified issues and assures action is taken.
- Responsible for maintaining time and attendance records in the electronic payroll and scheduling system (Compass) and assists with the maintenance of employee schedules, Compass orientation as needed, runs Compass reports as needed and provides payroll support.
- Registers surgical patients in Epic when applicable.
- Provides leadership team with administrative support using Microsoft Office applications
- Assist Surgical Services team with locker assignments, troubleshooting issues and scrub access for new staff.
- Assists techs with turning over bays, cleaning, etc

Educational/Experience Requirements:
Required Minimum Education:
- High school diploma or GED
Required Minimum Experience:
- Basic computer knowledge required, with the ability to enter data.
- Minimum two-year clerical experience in a clinical setting required
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in Perioperative Services preferred.
- Experience with EPIC, clinical information systems.
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Working Conditions, Equipment, Physical Demands:
- Weekend, shift work, holiday, on-call & overtime may be required.
- Work is performed on a patient care unit and involves contact with patients and health care providers.
- There is potential for exposure to patient with infectious diseases requiring the observance of safe work practices. Work is primarily performed in a perioperative environment.
Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.
